Rust Effect Paint

SURFACE PREPARATION

Apply the rust-effect paint onto solid and durable surfaces. The surface must be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and other substances impacting the adhesive capacity. Before applying the paint, a thoroughly dried and seasoned base should be primed with the GUARDI Deco primer, color KAM/021. Fresh cement and cement-lime plasters should be primed after approx. 4 weeks and gypsum plasters after approx. 2 weeks from completion. Skim coats and surfaces in drywall systems must be cleaned from dust and primed, e.g. with the Fixgrunt U primer. The wall should not leave any traces of white dust when rubbed with the hand. If necessary, prime twice. After an appropriate interval, paint with the GUARDI Deco primer, color KAM/021. Walls covered with wallpaper: remove the wallpaper thoroughly; wash the glue layer with painter’s soap and let dry completely. Spots covered with mold or fungi should be cleaned mechanically and disinfected with the Biotox Total algaecide and fungicide.

Begin applying the rust-effect decorative paint after the priming layer has dried, i.e. at least 2 hours after finishing paint application, if drying under optimal conditions (temperature +20°C, humidity 60%).

APPLICATION METHOD

Before painting, make sure you have component A and component B on hand and plan the sequence, as well as the method of application. Mix the product before use. Apply component A on a previously primed surface with a string roller or a sponge with large pores by stamping or rubbing. We recommend applying the component B as “wet on wet”, i.e. on component A when it has not dried yet, which will ensure an interfusing colors effect, imitating rust. It is also acceptable to apply component B on the already dried surface of component A. Apply component B with a sponge with large pores by rubbing or stamping. The intensity of the decorated surface depends on the expected result.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Perform painting works using the rust-effect Francesco GUARDI paint with surface and ambient temperatures between +10°C and +25°C, avoiding direct sunlight, both during works and when the paint is drying.
