Description

The Travertine effect plaster by Francesco GUARDI Collezione is an exclusive decorative coating, which perfectly imitates the surface of natural travertine, with its characteristic texture. It is produced on the basis of seasoned limestone grit and strictly selected grains with granulation from 0.2 to 0.5 mm. The product is characterised by high vapour-permeability and resistance to the growth of lichens and fungi.

  • - vapour-permeable
  • - natural final effects
  • - can be used outdoors
  • - ready for use
  • - highly efficient

Francesco GUARDI Travertine plaster is particularly recommended for decorating wall surfaces and other indoor architectural elements, as well as decorating entire façades or selected fragments of walls outdoors. It is also ideal for interior finishes in both residential and commercial housing, as well as in sacred buildings.

How to use

In its commercial form, the product is ready for use. Immediately before use, the compound should be mixed and, if necessary, diluted a small amount of water (nor more than 3% by weight). Do not dilute with other products.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The limestone travertine should be applied on robust, durable and even substrates, which are clean, dry and free from dust, grease and other substances reducing adhesion. Prior to application, a well-dried and seasoned substrate must be primed with the Francesco GUARDI priming layer. Fresh cement and cement/lime renders should be primed after approx. 4 weeks, while gypsum renders – approx. 2 weeks after application. Gypsum finishing coats and surfaces made of drywall must be dedusted and then primed, e.g. using the FIXGRUNT U. It is important to make sure that the surface does not leave any white dust when rubbed by hand. If necessary, use the primer twice, and then apply the Francesco GUARDI priming layer after an appropriate period. Areas contaminated with mould or fungi should be cleaned mechanically and disinfected using the Biotox Total algicide and fungicide.

APPLICATION METHOD

Once the primed surface has dried, use a Venetian float to apply the first layer of Travertine and smooth out the entire surface so as not to create thickening. Prior to the application of the second layer (after approx. 6 hours), dampen the entire surface using a roller. The second layer of the Travertine plaster should be applied the same way as the first one. A few minutes after application, delicately smooth out the surface and form an irregular patters using the edge of the float, spatula or brush. Once the desired pattern has been obtained, smooth out the entire surface again with an INOX Venetian float until the natural travertine effect is visible. Thus prepared, the surface must be left to dry for at least 12 hours. Depending on the effect you want to achieve, the Travertine may be through-coloured or coated on the surface with a coloured lazure paint. Before colouring, it is recommended to prime the mass using a primer, e.g. FIXGRUNT U. After at least 2 hours from priming, it is possible to apply the selected colour using the Francesco GUARDI lazure paint. The paint should be applied with a brush in the direction of the “scratched” pattern. Any excess paint should be removed with a damp sponge in such a manner as to avoid the formation of stains and keep the colour evenly spread over the entire surface. The colouring should be performed on a surface area of approx. 0.5 m2.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONT

To obtain homogeneous texture, the compound should be applied over the entire working surface, using wet-on-wet coating. Outer surfaces should be shielded from rain for at least 24 hours. The smoother the surface, the easier the application and the more aesthetic the final effect will be. Due to the presence of natural raw materials, in order to obtain better aesthetic results, we recommend plastering surfaces which constitute a distinct whole in a single working stage, with a material ordered on a one-off basis. The plaster should be applied at substrate and ambient temperatures of +5oC to +25oC, avoiding direct sunlight during both the application and drying of the compound. Do not apply when air humidity exceeds 80%.
Protect against frost and sunlight. LAKMA® SAT shall not be responsible for the quality of the product and paintwork in the event where the indicated instructions are not followed.
